I couldn’t resist writing about this timeless game. I can’t call myself a gamer, but I get back to Ignition from time to time. I used to play it when I was in primary school, in secondary school and even now I play it sometimes.

Ignition is extremely sweet :-D Nine small, colourful vehicles and seven fabulous tracks - guarantees excellent entertainment for many evenings. In addition to that, you can also play multiplayer mode [including splitscreen - two players on one screen]. Cars are very easy to drive, it’s definitely an arcade game. Thanks to dgVoodoo, Ignition looks quite good, although it was released over 10 years ago.

Ignition is currently Abandonware, so you can find it on many websites. But, if you want to fully enjoy this game, you have to run it in high resolution and without ugly pixels. That’s why I wrote this little tutorial :-)

What will you need?
• Ignition
• 3Dfx Patch
• dgVoodoo

How to run the game?
1) Download and unzip Ignition.zip
2) Download Ign3Dfx.zip and unzip it to Ignition directory
3) Download dgVoodoo and unzip it to Ignition directory
4) Run dgVoodooSetup.exe for configuration, not necessary but recommended
5) To play the game run Ign_3dfx.exe

I finally switched to Linux! Honestly, I installed it about one month ago, but I wasn’t sure if I will manage to use it. This time I decided to try openSUSE 10.3, which turned out to be much better than Mandriva. It doesn’t cause any problems, and if it does, I usually manage to fix it. You can see my desktop above, it’s not very colorful, but really comfortable…

I’m sure, I won’t go back to Windows :-D
